The Northern Lights Quartet organized in 1996 for impromptu sessions of chamber music in each other's homes. David Herzig and John Jermiason are the remaining founding members, formerly known as the Town and Country quartet, because two members were from Minot and two were rural dwellers. Since that time, NLSQ has performed at the International Peace Garden and other parks, given annual recitals at the Carnegie Center and provided music for area weddings and funerals. The group primarily performs Roma ntic to Classical selections with a mix of folk and pop tunes for variety.
