North Dakota native Celeste Krenz and Rebecca Folsom of the Rhythm Angels will perform at the Sibyl Center on Mother's Day, May 10.
Now a Nashville resident, Celeste Krenz, who has toured and performed nationally for the past 12 years, comes home as part of the new musical charting group, Rhythm Angels.
The Rhythm Angels reached the top of the folk/roots chart and have an upcoming show on Garrison Keillors A Prairie Home Companion. Their latest album is Girls Like Us.
Celeste Krenz also released an album earlier in the year that received critical acclaim across the country. My Mother and Me is a collection of songs that Celeste wrote with her mother, Jean Krenz, uncle Bob Dillon and late grandmother, Inez Dillon. The songs were based on her mother's lyrics, and the music was written to fit around the pre-existing prose.
The musical styles cover a wide swath from upbeat honky-tonk blues to slow soulful ballads with wonderful execution and the innate talent of Celeste Krenz. A multi-generational family affair, even Celeste's grandmother Inez Nyland helped write one song. Genuine lyrics are delivered in Celeste Krenz's sweet voice with a surprising range.
