Two young pianists, Mona Xiao and Alice Li, will present a program of Chinese folk tunes and traditional classical piano works interspersed with a visual presentation on China's cultural life—its people, the land and history.

Mona Xiao came to America from Chengdu, China at the age of two with her parents Ruoyu Xiao and Siwei Wang. She started playing the piano at six and at eight began her studies with Marlene Jensen Hoirup. Mona is a high school sophomore whose hobbies include swimming, drawing and reading.

Alice [Xingyi] Li was born in Shanghai, China and moved to America at the age of 3 with her parents Li Weiguang and Xiao Li. She started piano at the age of eight and began her studies with Marlene Hoirup two years later. Alice is a high school junior and enjoys reading, math, drawing and playing video games.

Alice and Mona met at a Chinese Culteral Event at Wake Forest University nine years ago. They have won several solo piano competitions at both the local and state level in North Carolina and also enjoy playing duets together.
