The first concert of the 2005 season was popular area vocalist Nicole Jorgenson, a native of Powers Lake. On Sunday, June 19th, Nicole and the Bluegrass Association of Minot performed "An Afternoon of Contemporary Bluegrass: A Tribute to Alison Krauss."
Nicole, who grew up in the White Earth Valley, has been singing since the age of three, and began her career in music after entering a Country-Western Jamboree at the age of five. She not only sings, but plays piano and saxophone and writes her own material.
At age 14, she joined the band Outskirts, based in Stanley, and continued with them until age 17. After graduating from Powers Lake High School, she attended Berklee College in Boston for two years and during that time was given the opportunity to meet with record company executives in Nashville. She is still in contact with a record producer as a result of that opportunity and is currently working on a demo recording while attending college at Minot State University.
Nicoles vocals and the broad appeal of contemporary bluegrass captivate audiences of all ages.
