To the Editor:
My wife and I visited Stanley over July 4th, and we want to say our appreciation to all those people in town who helped put on the parade and the events we attended in the Sibyl Center.
As someone who grew up in Stanley and the Presbyterian Church in the 40's and 50's, my roots will always be there, a strong influence in my life.
The parade was wonderful, from the gigantic combine down to the tiny duck waddling along, and it's so good to see the sense of community in celebrating the 4th as only a small town can. Also the performances in the Sibyl Center were splendid, displaying the regional talent from Powers Lake, New Town, Parshall and Stanley, as well as the troubadour from Mandan.
The dance band drew a full house, as well, and the trombone playing of Stan Wright continued for two hourswhat a great evening that was.
All in all, I hope all the people who turned out for those events will continue to support the Sibyl Center, and continue to bring good entertainment to the heart of Stanley.
