Variety Show Performers – July 4

Kate Olson spent most of her early years in Williston, North Dakota. She was involved in both school and local theatre in Williston, auditioning for as many shows as possible and discovering her niche for performing on the stage.

She continued her involvment in drama at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, where she studied voice with Janis Hardy and acted under direction of Gary Gisselman.

Although her strength is musical theatre, Kate expanded her acting to straight plays and has landed many leading roles in high school and college productions including Westside Story, Guys and Dolls, The Threepenny Opera and Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind. Kate also played the role of Belle in a professional production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

Kate graduated from St. Olaf in 2006 with a degree in German. In the spring of 2006 she received the Rimbach Award and will spend the coming year living and teaching in Rimbach, Germany. Afterwards, she plans to pursue a career in musical theatre.

Sibyl CenterChristin Reardon, a native of Long Island, New York, received her Bachelor's degree in instrumental music education from George Mason University in 2005. A dedicated teacher and flutist, Christin performed as a member of the National Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall in 2003. She was the winner of the George Mason University Concerto Competition, Long Island Flute Club Competition, and was selected to perform in the Flute Society of Washington's Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair masterclass.

Christin was a featured soloist with the Atlantic Wind Symphony in June of 2001. She has studied flute primarily with her mother, Joyce Reardon, and Judith Lapple. Christin is a band director in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Sibyl CenterPianist William Bonness is 20 years old. After graduating from high school in Winnipeg, Manitoba, William spent a year touring with Maynard Ferguson and his Big Bop Nouveau band, traveling to Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. William then returned to Winnipeg to continue his studies at the University of Manitoba, and he has since performed with several internationally acclaimed artists including Nicholas Payton, Regina Carter, Wycliffe Gordon, and Luciana Souza.

Sibyl CenterPeder MacLellan is a tuba major at the University of Manitoba. He was selected as a member of the National Youth Band of Canada in 2001 and 2002. He has performed with the Winnipeg Symphony and the Thunder Bay Symphony. In 2006, he won the Concerto Competition at the University of Manitoba. Peder also enjoys playing jazz bass. He will graduate in 2007 and hopes to pursue a career in tuba performance.
