As time goes along I would like to be of help with the Sibyll Center. Hopefully, the scattered family (close and distant) of the Mountrail area will jump on and support this project. Stanley now has another fine addition and is becoming a unique progressive city and fine example for other areas of ND. Bruce Nelson
Stan and I have particularly fond memories of the Presbyterian Church since we were married there in the summer of 1948. I am sending you a picture taken at that time which shows a little of the front of the church. I just thought it would be interesting for your committee to see. I hope you will be very successful in putting this wonderful old church to a use worthy of it. Evelyn Edwards Hazen
I am one of the few who did not 'take' piano from Sibyl McDonald, but it's a wonderful idea to attach her name to the Center for Life Enrichment. The conception of the Center is inspired, and we are all in the debt of those committing time and resources to the cause. I am thrilled the Presbyterian Church building is being saved, having spent so many Sunday mornings in worship and Saturday mornings in cleaning itmy very first paid employment! I look forward to seeing the old church in its new guise. PS: Great web site! Tom Edwards, '56
I live right across from the church and it would have been a sorry sight to see it torn down. It's worth fighting for and I love the name change. Carol (Domsten) Schultz
This is a great site. I plan to send info to my friends in Fort Wayne, Indiana. When I was a senior I was student teacher for Sibyl's overflow which was great fun. I not only taught after school in Stanley to beginners but traveled to White Earth once a week to give lessons. Fond memories to treasure...she was so encouraging and a great mentor. I then worked as a youth director in the First Presbyterian Church from 1959 to 1963 following my graduation from Jamestown College. I had spoken to several people a year ago about the plight of the building so hopefully I can enlist some contributions from this group of old friends now that there are concrete plans to present. This is so exciting. Janice Prochaska Jeffrey

Dale Bentley of Preservation North Dakota sent us notice of your web site, and I just wanted to let you know that it is a very nice site, and we are so pleased to see the progress that your project is making. It is groups like yours that are making rural North Dakota be proud of itself again. Barbara Lang, President, Preservation North Dakota
Sibyl Center sounds great!!! I even took a few lessons from her and did my practicing in the Presbyterian Church. Alice (Hegland) Anderson
Thanks for keeping me informed about the new performance center planned for Stanley and the surrounding community. May I add my congratulations on the excellent choice of
names for the buildingSibyl Center. I can think of no other one person who did so much to advance the study of music in Stanley. When I was the public school music teacher (so many years ago) she made my job so much easier! Almost every child in school had a basic knowledge of music, thanks to Sibyl. What a fine tribute you have chosen to bestow upon a lady who gave so much of herself to all of you Stanley kids. Give yourselves a grade of A+! Your fund-raising project should have no problems in reaching and surpassing your goal. Greetings to allhope to be there in July 2003. Jackie (Miss J.) Noack
Fantastic idea! Even Alice and I remember Sybil very well, even though we didn't take piano from her. She soloed in church frequently and was a real sweetie! Reverend Hume & Alice Ward
I feel it would be a wonderful tribute to a great lady. Even I took a few piano lessons from Sibyl! Corky (Jackson) Hintz

Sibyl Center is a terrific name for the Center for Life Enrichment. I am more and more thankful for growing up in a small ND town. One of my good friends here is from Chicago. She does not even remember her high school classmates and doesn't correspond with anyone from that time of her life. Carol Jean (Wade) Lee
What a great idea! Too bad her baby grand that was in the church was sold, as that could have been a centerpiece for piano performance. Anyhow, there are a great many alumni who were taught some great basics by Sibyl and that would certainly be a wonderful tribute to a gracious lady. Dick Jensen
I think the idea is excellent. Betty Leith
Wonderful idea. I, too, thought it would be nice to name the center after Sibyl MacDonald, for I took lessons from her for six years. She and W. R. Stewart played a major role in the development of many of us from Stanley for many, many years. It would be fitting if music played some role in the future use of the center, both in recognition or her and also the place that music has in Life Enrichment. When it comes to life enrichment, maybe there could be a memory wall in the building where others who helped us learn and grow could be remembered. I'm sure every generation has their Hardy Lieberg, Mr. & Mrs. McNea, Mrs. Peterson, Coach Wylie, M. G. Flath, etc., who deserve recognition. Jim Burbidge
Thanks for the web page. It is a unique concept of culture...the name is very fitting. Alan & Joanne Colbenson
Sibyl contributed so much to several generations of young people. The effects were also seen in the quality of the music in the school choirs and bands and in the church music programs. I am grateful to have studied with her for almost 12 years. I still get asked today as to when I began studying piano and I think back fondly to the end of my first grade year when Sibyl would drive to our home in her tan car and teach piano lessons for 50 cents! She was still living in Sanish at that time. I was so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to learn piano at that age and I am still using those skills every week. Thank you, Sibyl. Corinne (Eidem) Goodman
...What a great site! My parents (Jim and Evelyn Horne) were members of the Stanley Presbyterian Church until they closed the doors. What a great way to keep this beautiful building in Stanley. Suzanne (Horne) Duca
